Chicken & Egg funded films nominated for Best Short Documentary Oscar!



CONGRATULATIONS to Oscar Nominees The Barber of Birmingham & Saving Face!

What a way to kick off 2012! Chicken & Egg Pictures is proud to congratulate The Barber of Birmingham directed by Gail Dolgin & Robin Fryday and Saving Face directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy & Daniel Junge, Academy Award nominees in the Short Documentary category!

The Barber of Birmingham, executive produced by Chicken & Egg Pictures and produced by Gail Dolgin, Robin Fryday, and Judith Helfand, features 85-year-old Mr. James Armstrong, an African American barber in Birmingham, Alabama, as he experiences the manifestation of an unimaginable dream: the election of the first African American president. The Barber of Birmingham is slated for broadcast on POV later this year.

Saving Face, a Mother Wit: Liberty grantee, follows British-Pakistani plastic surgeon Dr. Jawad, treating Pakistani women victims of heinous acid attacks. The film follows several of these women as they deal with the aftermath of these horrific attacks. Saving Face will have its broadcast debut in the spring of 2012 on HBO and on More4 in the UK.
