Record-breaking feat for director Catherine Hardwicke

Congratulations to Catherine Hardwicke who this weekend set a new record for the biggest opening weekend for a female-directed film, taking $70.6m. The previous record-holder was set in 1998! The previous record-breaking film was Mimi Leder's Deep Impact, which took $41.1m.

I hope its not 2018 before another female director breaks her record!

Lioness on front cover of NY Times Art Section today!

Chicken & Egg Pictures is thrilled to share with you news that Lioness features on the cover of the New York Times Arts Section C, P1 today.
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/05/arts/television/05lion.html

Lioness will broadcast tonight on Independent Lens/PBS in New York City on Channel Thirteen/WNET at 9:30 pm.
A national broadcast will follow on Independent Lens, PBS on Thursday, November 13 at 9pm. Check for local listings. http://www.pbs.org/independentlens/

Chicken & Egg Pictures are honored to have been involved with this film as Executive Producers. We believe that the film, and its multi-year audience engagement campaign, is strategically poised to leverage press attention and inform congressional action and public policy.

About the film:
Lioness tells the story of a group of female Army support soldiers who became the first women in American history to be sent into direct ground combat. Without sufficient training but with a commitment to serve as needed, these young women ended up fighting in some of the bloodiest counterinsurgency battles of the Iraq war. Lioness makes public, for the first time, this hidden history.

For more information about Lioness please visit www.lionessthefilm.com or keep checking the Chicken & Egg blog here.
