Tijuana, Nada Más in Independent Film Week

Congratulations to Yolanda Pividal for getting her project into the Independent Film Week this year! Tijuana, Nada Más was featured at last year's program as part of the Spotlight on Documentaries. She now returns to showcase her work at the Documentary & Narrative Independent Filmmaker Lab. Chicken & Egg met Yolanda through IFP last year and as a result made her an I BELIEVE IN YOU grantee!

About Tijuana, Nada Más:
Tijuana, Nada Más is the story of four homeless children in the busiest border city in the world: Tijuana. Jonathan and Jesus are two niños polleros who work for the Coyotes leading immigrants across the border until one day they decide to change their lives and become part of a “family”; Bladimir is an L.A. gangmember who has been recently deported and has to start over again; Enrique is a 14-year-old callejero (street child) who blows fireballs on the streets for a living and still believes in the promise of a better life in Tijuana. Tijuana, Nada Más takes us into the world of these children who cross the porous U.S. border while certain boundaries in their own lives remain impassable; exclusion, poverty and an uncertain future are the highest fences for them. Even if they cross the border, will they get to the “other” side?

Cartoon College in Independent Film Week

Congratulations to Tara Wray for getting her project into the Independent Film Week this year. Her film, Cartoon College, will take part in the Spotlight on Documentaries program Chicken and Egg Pictures made an I Believe In You grant to Cartoon College earlier this year.

About Cartoon College:
Can a school for self-described “comic book nerds” revive a dying Vermont village? Cartoon College answers that question by looking at the marriage of arts and community development, and the ways “creative economy” is being used to revitalize a town on the brink of collapse. The focus of the story is the Center for Cartoon Studies. Since its inception in 2005, CCS has attracted an eclectic mix of artists to White River Junction, along with many of the world’s most well-known cartoonists. With them they bring creativity, prestige and income-generating potential, long missing from the area.
